Group A - FIFA 2010 World Cup

  1. South Africa : Looked more confident. Played much lively football. Were very unlucky in the first match. They had far superior chances than Mexico. Unfortunately, after one draw and one defeat. they are almost out of the World Cup. They have the daunting task of beating France by more than 6 goals [ or goal difference to be precise ] to have a chance to qualify !!!
  2. Uruguay : They had only one good opening in the beginning of the match with France. Not very impressive. But, with their 3 - 0 win over host South Africa, its evident that they were nervous starters. They are top team in this group, and are almost sure of qualifying for the next round. Even a draw with Mexico will do for them now.
  3. Mexico : Very nervous. Started off very well in the first match, but could not maintain the same momentum throughout the match. Looked rusty. But, I am happy that they won against France. It was a much better performance. One could see the South American touch in their game. They must be hoping for a win against Uruguay to avoid an encounter with the top team of Group B, Argentina.
  4. France : Pathetic as ever. Ribery was the only player who could create some chances for them. Just like the previous World Cup, they take the ball to the opposition D and falter while striking the ball. Either the ball is passed to a no man's land, or the strikers are way too ahead and no ball reaches them. I am glad that they are almost out of this World Cup. They now need to score more than 5 goals [ goal difference to be precise ] against South Africa. With all the trouble brewing up in their dressing room, one can be sure that they will be worse than always.

  1. Its final. Uruguay and Mexico make it to the knockout stage from Group A.

    Thankfully France are out.

Sadly, South Africa lose out as well.

Mexico will meet Argentina while Uruguay will meet South Korea [ or Greece ]
